R/N best builds!
what're your favourite builds for an R/N in PvE?
I used to vary between Necromancer area-effects and poisoning-effects with the Ranger's traps. Now I actually don't use my necromancer skills at all, 'cus I want to see what it's like to be a "pure" ranger.
Anyway, I want to try something new. Suggestions?
(btw, on the account with my R/N I only have the Nightfall campaign, so if you know of some good builds with Nightfall and core-skills, that'd be great )

/N isn't really beneficial to a Ranger at all.
I only know of a few skills that uses the Necromancer secondary, and is half-decent. Rend Enchantments.
Apart from that (still redundant on a Ranger.), go /Mo or /Me.

I don't know, I go back and forth between a traditional build vs. touch on the same mission and the toucher just blasts through the entire mission effortlessly. I also have Jin equipped as a toucher and she and Koss are unbelievable as a hero pair of tanks.

It's Warrior, not Tank.
Anyway, the only truly viable skill from /N for Ranger, in my opinion, is Rend Enchantments -- and that's for PvP mainly.
And if you're going to run a Toucher, you should slap yourself and run a REAL build.

So Tyla, 1 on 1 how do you beat a touch ranger? While playing my SS nec in Ft Aspenwood, the touch rangers were ferocious. I didn't have any problem against them with my KD warrior, but they put the hurt on anything that doesn't snare them or knock them down. I'm sure there are plenty of builds you could design that would stop a touch ranger, but most wouldn't be viable against the other players you'd encounter.

My point is that putting all the hate aside, the touch ranger is very viable build in PVE. Armor ignoring attacks can take a boss down quickly and plague touch can rid yourself of conditions almost instantly. I don't think it is mindless at all, especially if you keep a bow handy to pull off an interrupt as needed. I breezed through the Magi challenge several times with my touchy ranger.

[skill]crippling shot[/skill] And kite.
Apply Poison ftw.
Plus 1 on 1...? This is a team game.
Crippling Shot = field control, you snare, they struggle to catch up, escape, whatever.
@Voodoo -- I mean by mindless, that it's buttonmashing. Plus my BHA is too leet for your touch ranger.

Tyla, you cheated--I said other than snares and knockdowns... like a nec, mes, monk, etc
Silly, of course in real PVP a Touch Ranger wouldn't work--this was in Ft Aspenwood...
Buttonmashing like a fox. Without your Crip shot ranger or KD warrior, a touch ranger would kick your ass-you know it and I know it.

sorry, thats just not true. Maybe if he stood there and just took the damage, yes he would die. But all rangers take a speed boost (mostly nat-stride) to run away, from what i can gather, most touchers take dodge or zojuns haste, which means you will easily be able to outrun them once their stance runs out. And till then theres always trolls. Plus interupts. Plus degen.

Another good skill from /necro is [skill]Mark of Pain[/skill] obviously best if applied by a human as the ai will use it on a single opponent...

I still run Cripshot in any PvP form, even the lessers.
And I can just use Natural Stride to kite them, D-Shot one of their touches when they aren't stanced up...
And not only Warriors KD, GoE Gale Mesmer, Gale on a generic Blinding Surge bar....
@Lennymon -- That, with Barbs on a Necro while you're running Turret Ranger in PvE is quite sexy. Turret is nerfed but it's still effective to a point.
OT -- I has new font style.

Yup, always better to just include things like that on a real necro, but in say 4 person party where some things can't be included otherwise I just bring on my ranger.

Rend ench, gaze of contempt are really the only skills that are good, unless you want to run touchers.
Oh, and 1v1 is srs bsns. Grow some balls and take the taunting when you kite his dumb ass to all your NPCs.

Touchers are good for farming and this is PvE and they are good for beating Cynder.

anything works in PvE, honestly.
Just slap 8 skills on that bar, spec random attributes, and you'll still be fine. And it'll surely be new
